Frequently Asked Questions
Which court hears corruption cases?
Generally the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, or the regional Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, depending on jurisdiction. Cases against certain holders of political office go to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions. A lawyer will check which court has jurisdiction over your case.
What should I do if the NACC finds me at fault?
When the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) finds wrongdoing, a criminal finding is referred for prosecution in the court with jurisdiction, and a disciplinary finding is sent to the person's superior to decide the penalty. Whether the person is suspended, removed from duty, or must stop performing duties while the case is pending depends on the law that applies to their position. Talk to a lawyer to prepare your defence.
